When an employee leaves a company to work for a competitor that employee should realize the fine line that can be crossed of unethical business practice. An employee can always move on to the next company with using the knowledge they gained through a degree or trade school. The employee needs to make sure not to divulge any information regarding the old company or even any methods of work that were done.

An employee can use the knowledge they learned in school to perform their daily job at the new company. With that the experiences they learned from the old company, can be beneficial to that employee as well. The employee always has to be aware of the fine line that can be crossed at any moment. At this moment I work at as a Homeowners Association Manager, I have considered at times what would happen if I were to go to another company. With all the competitors in my field, the possibility is endless. I know how difficult changing to a different company would be because I know the new company would try to find out information regarding my current company. I have decided at this point it might be easier to stay where I am, although I will always keep the option open.

As an employee the line of being unethical is very fine. When an employee goes to a competitor company, that employee needs to keep all information of the process or practices of the prior company to themselves. If the employee is questioned about the prior company, they need to be honest and say they are only being ethical by not saying anything. The current company should respect the lack of stating anything from the prior company because more than likely it will not be done to them.

An employee should always stay ethical in every situation, especially if moving on to another company. "Ethics are also generally a sense of what's right and wrong." (www.cvtips.com/ethics-in-the-workplace, copyright date 1999-2011).
