View the New Employee video scenario linked on the Perform page and use the concepts in Units 2 and 3 as you respond to the questions in this activity.

Follow these guidelines in preparing your document

* For this activity, you are answering the questions, not writing a traditional paper.

* Write your answers after each question.

* Your answers should be composed in complete sentences and paragraphs, and the entire document should be a total of 500 to 600 words, or about two pages.

1. How would you describe Toya's self-concept?

Toya appears to be a self-starter which is a great skill to have. She seems to be a people pleaser and really wants to help others and feel needed. Toya seems to feel pretty confident that she is doing well at her job since no one has said otherwise.

2. How is self-concept affecting the interaction? Is it helping it? Hindering it? Explain.

3. Using the process of human perception starting on page 68, explain the situation.

4. Using the guidelines for improving perception and communication starting on page 83, provide at least two tips for Toya and two tips for her mentor on how to handle the situation in an effective way.
