In the earliest times, if we would assess the status of women and how they were treated, we could almost compare them to prisoners. The

reason for this is because women before and sometimes even today are treated as if they are incapable of doing anything that has an impact in the

society. They are considered to be inferior to men and their only real significance is to be a good wife and bear their husband heirs. Just like in Sparta,

women are expected to be physically fit so that they could bear healthy children who would grow up to be able citizens and for the continuity of the

family line. Before, education was only exclusive to men because society then believes that the only skill a woman need is that she knows how to sew,

do household chores and is fit to bear healthy children. They were deprived of education and are denied the freedom to go out on their own and

participate in discussion involving society. As we see, Greek History and Literature are primarily dominated by men. Great philosophers like Socrates,

Plato and Aristotle are all males.

If we are to compare the women of today from the women of before, women today are very lucky indeed to be born in this particular day

and age. Although, we cannot deny the fact that there are still some discrimination and certain stereotypes left, the fact remains that the women of today

have something that women before never had and that is freedom.

MER which implemented in conjunction with one another will provide a platform

where Australian firms can compete successfully in the international market.
