Baseball's Steroid Era

Over the years players in Major League Baseball have been trying to gain a edge over other players in the league. In the book The book The Baseball Hall of Shame's Warped Record Book there is a story of Babe Ruth taking a extract from sheep testicles to try to gain a edge in the game, this attempt failed for Babe and causing him to miss the game. The Yankees reported his absence to a "bellyache". Since the early 2000's steroid testing have been stepped up and more strict. In 1971 the game of baseball banned steroids. But the league didn't start testing till the early 2000's. That hasn't stopped users to try and get to the Hall of Fame. The chemical makeup of a steroid is 17β-hydroxy-4-androsten-3-one. With this report I will try to give you a little more information on the issues of steroids in Major League Baseball on how it can cause more harm than good, it has messed up the games record book(All-time home run leader).
There is a good deal of books about there talking about steroids in the major leagues, just a few are Juiced by Jose Canseco where he talks about how 80% of the players in MLB have tried steroids. Another is the book Game of Shadows it explains how the author (George J. Mitchell) belives that Barry Bonds was given performance-enhancing drugs, which included several types of steroids and human growth hormones. The commissioner of baseball Allan (Bud) Selig commented on the book calling it a "attention to the issue" There are plenty of other books out there including The Rocket That Fell To Earth, A-Rod: The Many Lives of Alex Rodriguez, and Bases loaded: The inside Story of the Steroid Era in Baseball.
