Announcement on Carter's Tagless Labels
Recently, Carter's has learned from around the country that there have been some reports of babies whose skin appeared to be irritated by our tagless label. Carter's utilizes tagless labels on a variety of garments within our clothing line.
We truly understand that this may pose concerns for parents. The Carter's family values your business. Hence, here are the reasons we have taken the following steps to address the matter:
* By compiling the reports, Carter's has learned that clothes from the fall 2007 clothing line, which includes baby garments, are in question. In fact, of the 100 million garments sold in fall 2007, the company received only 400 complaints.
* Carter's, its suppliers, and several independent doctors and specialists have conducted their own analysis. Each analysis concluded that the tagless labels do not contain any abrasive chemical or skin irritant.
* Carter's and U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission discussed the analytical findings and decided not to issue a recall. However, Carter's is advising parents of affected babies to switch to different garments, or return the garments for full refund instead.
Though there may be small reports of the irritations, Carter's treats every consumer's complaint seriously. We deeply sympathize with those parents whose babies are unable to enjoy the Carter's brand. Carter's is a family first store, and we pride ourselves in bringing the safest and best products to our consumers.
