RADICAL EXCELLENCE

Critique of Preface, Introduction, Chapter 5 to 10 and Afterwards

CHAPTER FIVE:  YOU ARE HERE!

Chapter five was very interesting and somewhat difficult to read, due to my pride and my resistance of wanting to admit where I am.  This chapter was well planned and written; it also persuades the reader to focus on their own individual true character weaknesses.  The Blind Spot and the Unknown are areas that I do worry about; I have been the victim of spinach teeth, many times.  The comparison of lyrics between Led Zeppelin and Nicki Minaj, plainly expressed how self-respect, dignity and etiquette’s have declined over the past twenty-five years.

Below are four sentences that captured my attention in this chapter:

  • “The meanness or kindness with which we speak is like a window into our soul, revealing whether peace or poison is treasured there.”

  • “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter.” – Mark Twain
  • “Crude language reflects a limited vocabulary and an underdeveloped intellect.”
  • “Harsh language reveals unresolved anger, a weakness that clearly needs to be dealt with.”

Grammatically, chapter five did not seem to have errors.

CHAPTER SIX:  KNOW YOURSELF!

Chapter six was about understanding my personality, in order to successfully work with other personalities.  I found this chapter interesting; it is great resource for examining myself and can be used in a company setting, seeking to hire someone with a specific personality.

Grammatically, there were only a few areas that may need to be edited:

  • Page 16: second paragraph: first sentence: last word is spelled ‘continua’, not sure if you meant ‘continue

CHAPTER SEVEN:  YOU AND YOUR WORLD

Chapter seven is about an individual understanding their own personal world, and mindful that everyone has their own personal world.  The beginning of the chapter had me intrigued as the chapter begins to speak about the dark behavior; this clearly and truthfully describes how integrity has drastically decline over the past couple of decades.

Below is two sentences from this chapter that I truly agree and connected with:

  • The smartest, most beautiful or most talented people are not always the most successful, the most fulfilled or the happiest.

  • The important thing to remember is that to attain personal and leadership excellence, we must be our own best self.

Grammatically, chapter seven did not seem to have errors.
