The success or failure of an organization can be determined based on the a few aspects. The first would be the strength of the management team within. Managers that want to succeed must understand the importance of incorporating the primary functions of management. Organizations exist in markets surrounded by competition, and this is another factor that management must ensure to respond properly. Strategic planning is crucial to ensure the organization know how to respond to any potential competition.
Incorporating Porter's Five-Force Model can help organizations in any industry to recognize the potential threats that could affect the organizations profitability and position in the industry. Kudler Fine foods is an example of an organization that can apply the Five-Forces to the organization to identify and uncover threats. The organization will also examine the use of the internet, technology, and how the two factors affect management.
Kathy Kudler created a gourmet food shop called Kudlers Fine Foods. The purpose of the store was the hastle Kathy had to go through to find fresh ingredients for her meals. No one likes to have to travel around just to find specific ingredients for a simple dish. Kudler foods were established to provide the freshest of ingredients in a local and easily accessible store. The store not only offers ingredients but the tools to prepare the food too. According to Kudler Fine foods, Kudler Fine Foods is divided into the following departments: fresh bakery and pastries, fresh produce, fresh meat and seafood, condiments and packaged foods and cheeses and specialty dairy products. There are three locations in San Diego metropolitan area (Kudler Fine Foods, 2007).
In management, the four functions consist of planning and strategizing, leading and controlling, decision-making, and organizing. Planning and strategizing is crucial in any business organization. The reason the two are paired as one is because they work synonymously. The purpose of this function is to determine and set goals for an organization while keeping in mind the weaknesses and strengths. Depending on the mission of the organization, upper management would focus on developing strategies for achieving the goals of the organization. Kudler Foods upper management consists of President Kathy, store managers Juanita Lopez, Kent Vesper, and Laurie Priest. The process of organizing involves specifying how the firm's human, physical, financial, informational, and technical resources are coordinated and arranged to perform the tasks that will help Kudler reach the desired objectives set by the company.
The equal and efficient distribution of resources within the organization would be determined by Harvey Stephens (Director of Finance and Accounting), Yvonne Reynolds (Director of Store Operations), and Brenda Wagner (Director of HR and Administration). The proper way for managers to organize is by
