If deep dish pizza is your style, Gino's East is the perfect place to enjoy a stone baked deep dish. It is open Monday-Thursday 11am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 11am- 12 midnight, and Sunday 12 noon-9pm. Gino's East started with two taxi drivers and a friend who invested in a restaurant, Gino's East. The first pizzeria was opened just off Michigan Ave. and Superior St. in Chicago. Gino's became famous right off the bat; actors, Chicagoans, and tourists began eating there. It became the hot spot for deep dish pizza. Each pie is hand prepared when the order is sent to the kitchen. So a warning for hungry Chicagoans, each pizza is cooked when your order is placed, and there will be a forty-five to an hour wait. If you are someone who hates waiting, it is best to call ahead and preorder your pizza before arriving to the restaurant. Gino's East is a pizzeria where there is a variety of delicious food to chose from, a bar where you can relax and chat with peers, a place to reserve for parties, and excellent waiters to place your order.
Gino's East is not your ordinary pizzeria. When you walk in, you can see to the left a few steps leading to the bar. There is another set of stairs that go up in a sort of swirl to the second floor where you discover set of tables with white and red stripes on them. All over the walls is graffiti in different colors of the rainbow which is my favorite art of Gino's. The atmosphere feels as though like you are in a coloring book. Even the photographs are written on with people's names who have eaten at Gino's East. On the walls are various pieces of art work to set the mood and pictures of famous people who had eaten at Gino's East previously.
Gino's menu ranges from pizza all the way to pasta and chicken tenders. Each deep dish pizza is jammed packed with ingredients and is cooked with a special ingredient, which is unknown to this day. Each pizza has mouth watering golden, brown crush and fresh tomatoes. On their menu, they have the supreme deep dish, which I recommend because it leaves you wanting more, with sausage and pepperoni, layers of cheese, onions, green pepper, and mushrooms. In addition, Gino's also has the meaty legend deep dish, with pepperoni, Italian sausage, Canadian bacon and bacon. In addition, for nonmeat lovers, they also have a vegetarian pizza, with asparagus, green peppers, mushroom, onions, red peppers, yellow squash, eggplant, and zucchini. Because of all the fabulous pizzas, a caution sign should be placed on the table while eating because you can burn your tongue. This shows how fresh the pizza is and gets the taste buds jumping off the walls. However, if you are not super hungry or just not in the mood for deep dish, they also have thin crush pizza which can be ordered with the same ingredients as a deep dish. Each bite is like you are in heaven. However, if you are not craving pizza or it is just not your thing, there are
