In this paper, I will attempt to do a case study on Starbucks. This paper will
provide a job description as well as different job requirements for employees. I will also
go into some detail on the organizational configuration as well as the departmentalization
structure. I will also include details on the financial problems that occurred a s the
economy changed.
Job Description & Specification
Thank you for signing on with us at Starbucks. If you're a coffee lover you will
love working here. This is a place of relaxation, where you can find peace and harmony
while enjoying a cup of hot coffee. The atmosphere here is relaxed and laid back.
Relaxing jazz music in the background while you can sit and read or work on your
laptop. We train our employees using motivation programs that include buy in options.
We are a diverse company that enjoys serving our local community. As an employee we
welcome all ideas on how to improve operations and our services. If your suggestions
are accepted you shall be rewarded.
Your duties as an employee are as follows:
a. You must be a people's person. There will be light conversations between you
and the customer. You will have to answer some questions. In between
questions, present some suggestive selling.
b. You have to be able to multi-task. There will be various of different designer
coffees to make. These will include espresso, cappuccino, coffee mocha
, iced coffee, lattes, frappucinos, etc. You will have to be quick with a good
memory.
c. You will have to be able to stand a long period of time as well as lift up to 25lbs.
Also you will become experts in coffee brewing while providing friendly service. You
will not be known as servers.
