Have you ever heard of a masterpiece called “Praying Hands”? So rough the hands and so rich the emotion is the painting. In life, there must be some extraordinary people around you who are your escorts or even life guides. They keep praying and hope nothing in return but the best for you. I don’t have someone sacrificing for me like praying hands, but luckily I have “Golden Feet.”

I met Jeep in a summer camp about ten years ago, yet we haven’t been so familiar with each other until the eve of Chinese reading competition in high school. As time went by, his dazzling smiles didn’t fade away but became more vivid. He was a talented guy who always won champions in every kind of Chinese competitions. As a senior, he volunteered to teach me and accompanied me until the big day. During the training lessons, he taught me all the skills about oral readings, impromptu speeches and even cross talk. He had a big crush on cross talk, which enabled him to face the audiences confidently and conquer the stage fright. He was just like my brother, leading me hand in hand from the beginning to the end.

In order to cheer me up when I was frustrated facing all the obstacles during the training program, he played soccer for me. He once told me, “soccer is a teamwork sport and the victory belonged to the team and the teammates behind you.” He then told me, he would happily be my escort, supporting me unconditionally as he supporting his teammates. Watching he shoot the goal, I couldn’t only stand by side applauding but yelled out loud to share his happiness as he did when I was onstage. As a result, I called him “Golden Feet” that brought me luck and cheered me up all the time.

He was not only an escort but also a life guide during the past few years. No matter the extracurricular competitions or the academic performances, he saved me and pushed me ahead. When I was extremely down in taking the mock exams, he always showed up at appropriate times and promised me he would be glad to stand behind me whenever I need shoulders to cry on. Afterward he told me “However, right after weeping like a baby, you must dry your tears and face the challenges on your own, and that’s my girl!” In other words, although he was my Golden Feet, supporting me unconditionally, I had to walk on my own way home to become a more mature person.

I learned a lot from him such as the competitions or the attitude toward life. His warmth around me made me powerful enough to face all the barriers. Because of him, I can now stand onstage without fear and deal with my sensitive nerve appropriately. He is just a mentor in my life, guiding me to write a new leaf in the following days. I will never forget his words and make those companies worth memorizing. Thanks to him, I am who I am.
