After working at a fast food restaurant for two years, getting paid minimum wage and dealing with horrible bosses, I realized that I could do better than this. I decided to quit my job for good. Then I told my brother about my situation and we sat down together to find a solution. We wanted to find a way to make more money and be more independent. Therefore we came up with the idea to associate and invest all our savings into a franchise business. Becoming a franchise owner means buying the name and the term policies of an already exciting company. This was eight years ago and today we still run a profitable cleaning franchise together. Of course this did not happen overnight. First we had to get the company started, learn about customer service and about ways that would provide us with more profit.

Starting in the cleaning business is not all that hard to do, that is why you see so many people trying to start them. You need to have some capital to invest. The minimum initial investment to become a franchise owner is 3500 dollars. You will have to take a six week class to learn how to clean professionally and how to operate different equipment. After you pass the class you get a certification and are able to start with your first account. If you do a satisfying job with that you will be able to get more and more accounts to expand your business. This is the point where you will have to start hiring people, because in order to grow you cannot do all the work by yourself.

To please your clients you do not only have to clean to their satisfaction, but also give them the feeling that they can count on you and your services at all times; customer service becomes very important. The cleaning should be on a consistently high level and to have evidence for this you will start to have monthly inspections. This way your customer has actual proof that their demands are met. It also gives them the feeling that you really care about them, because you make the effort to step by at least once a month.

Lastly, the company gives you other ways to earn extra money. Many accounts have tile floors that are highly used. for these type of floors a strip and wax service is needed. To do this work you need a specific buffer machine, that will remove all the old dirty spots and scratches to the floor. Then you recoat the floors with new wax and they will look brand new. Another kind of extra work is carpet cleaning. For this you also need a specific machine to be able to take out stains and odor. Therefore you will have to invest in machinery, but this is the kind of work that gives you the most profit.

In the end, cleaning services are a growing business, because there will always be companies that need your work. Becoming a franchise owner is really easy and anyone can do it. My brother and I achieved it and we are doing well. If you follow the steps of how to start your business, maintain a great customer service and provide extra work,
