Differences:
In the book, Old Major dies about three days after giving his speech to the animals about the rebellion. In the movie, he dies right in the middle of his speech.
In the book, all the animals could speak at least a little bit. They all sang the beasts of england but in the movie they hummed or brayed or mooed or whatever.
In the movie the character Mr Whymper is not even present.. in the book he had a somewhat significant role.
The biggest difference is definately the end where in the book the animals are sadly still dominated by Napolean and his minoins but in the movie they were able to overthrow him.
in the beginning where they're holding the meeting in the barn, in the movie farmer jones comes out to the barn and in the book farmer jones fires 6 shots out the window.
Mrs Jones, Mollie, and Clover were all absent from the movie
in the book i think you kind of have to make assumptions about some events and in the movie you see everything happen clearly
In the movie there is little dilect between characters and in the book you get more of a sense of their verbal relationship.
In the movie you actually see napolean go off and do is dirty deeds (such as stealing the puppies and training them to be his "secret police")
in the book the overall theme is very apparent (that it is impossible to attain a utopia where everyone is treated equally)
In the movie very little time is spent on developing the characters
Overall, the movie covered the major ideas of the book, but missed some details.
