In an article in Marketing Week, Mark Chouke says one of the hardest things a marketer does is to manage risk. He says there isn't a lot of training for the job of believing in your instincts enough to keep pushing ahead in the face of closed doors and if all evidence research and logic suggests you are wrong (Chouke). In the face of opposition, Joshua stayed faithful to his beliefs. His fellow spies had given evidence that demonstrated the logical decision was to not proceed into Canaan, and the congregation had bought into it. Bob Schmetterer in Advertising Age says that a byproduct of change is a marked increase in uncertainty and with uncertainty comes fear (Advertising Age). Joshua was facing a time of change and uncertainty. Moses had died and had laid his hands on Joshua filling him with the spirit of wisdom. In the face of opposition, uncertainty and fear the encouraging words the Lord spoke to Joshua, to be strong and of good courage, to not be afraid, gave him the assurance to proceed and lead the Israelites into the Promised land. I believe these same words apply to us today. We can have the courage to stand strong whether marketing or selling a product ethically God will give us the courage and strength to do the Godly thing even against opposition and adversity.
