Task 1

The Company I Have Choose Is Ajmal Perfumes, One of the well-known names in perfume industry.

Company History & Introduction:

The story of Ajmal perfumes begins, When in 1950 the chief executive of organization Mr.Ajmal migrated from northeastern India to city Mumbai and started business of selling agarwood (a fragrance wood usually known as woods of god because of it uses in religious ceremonies for pleasant fragrance) and Dahn al Oudh (can cost for about USD$ 10,000 per kilo) sourced from his state Assam. Later he started manufacturing his own fragrances and supply to the Middle East and named his products by family name.

In 1976, Mr. Ajmal again migrated to Dubai and opened first company outlet there. He also inaugurated tree plantation programmed of agarwood plants in Assam. Now about one million trees have been planted under his program which will benefit the perfume industry in future because it takes 20-40 years to harvest.

After a hard work, experience, and research for about 36 years in 1987 Ajmal perfume launched their first perfume and started to expand the business further over the globe by opening outlets in Kuwait, Oman, kingdom of Saudi Arabia,Bahrain And Malaysia. Ajmal also introduced exclusive products for Kuwait airways, gulf airways, Saudi Arabian airlines, emirates airlines.

They manufactured some best-selling fragrances in Middle East e.g. Sarah, Daan al-Dunya, Ajmal by Ajmal.

In recent years, 2013 Ajmal held contest depth Ajmal young perfume talent hunt also in Dubai.

After the interview,I’ve Concluded these are Two Different types of situations they are dealing with in my chosen department of Research and Development.

1. Lack of Experts in Research & Development Department

2. Pressure from Top management and Stakeholders.

1. Lack of Experts in Research & Development Department:

To Compete the Perfume Market, they Are Supposed to develop new perfumes, the problem about the lack of experts Happens. Because the priorities of Material Experts and chemical engineers is Oil industry. In the Oil industry, they can earn more money as compared to the perfume industry.

Also, if they hire new staff, Even Their priority is also Production department instead of research & development depart because there they also earn more than Research & Development department.

In production job results are derived faster as compared to Research & Development department and salaries in a production job is also more?

So they think about less stress in the production department.

In Research Depart, Duties are bit difficult and they would be working as unknown.

Sometimes they work hard to develop a new product but get rejected or results are derived late because they could not found the proper staff.

Another problem is approving funding for this department is difficult task because, in production department, Investors just put money and Get their money back after selling the goods with Profit in short interval of time.

If Investment is made in R&D department Money do not come back because of uncertain results.

It is a New Product Developed, May or May not be Get Approved.

If not get approved, then all the funding loose.

2. Pressure from top management and stakeholders:

In research & development department Staff has always got the pressure of Developing New fragrances from top management, Internal and external stakeholders who are Suppliers, Customers and the people who have interests.

Like if they are Researching to develop a new product for a company,
