When we look at the movie Dead Poet Society we see many comparisons that can be made to Plato's Allegory in the Cave. Many of these comparisons can come from both the places they boys in the movie go to and how each of the characters responds to one another. At first we see that both have caves that allow some sort of knowledge produce from one another. We see that the boys all produce knowledge once they are in the cave, but learn more when they leave it every night. It closely resembles when Socrates is allowed to leave the cave and be able to explore the outside world. From the point of view that stands out we have two different people that can relate to what happen with Socrates. The first person that we can relate this too is Professor Keating. Professor Keating is the closest to Socrates because when Professor Keating stated that he has also went through the hard times within the school and survived and then found the light. He was stating about the school being the cave and the knowledge that he gained at the school was the light. From what Professor Keating said to the kids it compares to when Socrates had gone out of the cave and was exposed to the light. From being exposed to the light was able to see related again and start to learn more about life and was able to go down back to the cave and help them realize about life. The second person that can relate to Socrates would be Neil.
