"Death is just the beginning" a quote by Jessica Moone came to my mind as I sat in huddled up in a corner, it had been 2 hours since the cave collapsed on me. Bodies lay in pools of blood, some even had even had a few limbs torn out in a gruesome manner. I was the only one left, the only one to survive.
Rain pelted my skin like bullets as I made my way to the old, shabby looking school bus/hut. It was a school excursion to the Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve on that ****** day. I murmured a 'hello' to the bus driver with bloodshot eyes, as I made my way to the back of the bus. Nothing was even barely interesting in the nature reserve. I just slugged around like a snail with my irritating classmates as we explored the various kinds of wildlife there. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed something that was extremely unusual.
A cave, not an ordinary one, but this had an eerie presence. There were vines one colour of crimson red that covered its entire structure. Due to my curiosity, I dragged a couple of my classmates to explore it. If only I had noticed the cracks appearing on the lines of the cave or the sound of rocks being crushed like grovel.
Another hour had passed, and I was beginning to lose hope of being rescued. At that exact moment, I heard the faint sound of drill near/neat to my. At the blink of an eye, I began to claw my way through the feeble structure towards the drill. Blood from my battered hands sprayed over the dull rocks as I writhed in pain at the loss of the two fingernails. Then, the drill finally broke through as rays of light beamed on my bruised face. What I saw next shook me to the core.
It's long snout and razor-like teeth instilled fear in my heart. It wasn't a drill, it not even being a human being. The alligator eyed me with malicious intent. It had dug through here to find a home, but now it could enjoy a full course meal. I slowly backed up against the cave wall when I felt something sharp in my pocket. It was the penknife that I had bought for my project well it had other uses now. I timed myself, threw it at blinding speed towards the alligator and crawled through the narrow tunnel it had made.
Fresh air greeted me as I made my way out of the tunnel. I begun to recollect the events that just took place. Although the alligator had the intent to devour me, it had actually provided me with a way to escape that hellish nightmare of a place. I begun to think about how fate could help us in an unexpected ways as I made my way to the school bus to report the incident and the gruesome deaths of my so-called classmates.
