Anuradha Koirala

Anuradha Koirala is a modern day hero whose lifetime achievements have set the stage for present and future activists to continue to change the face of our nation's history. Anuradha Koirala is a revolutionary agent of change who embodies the definition of courage. According to Dictionary.com, courage is "the quality of mind and spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, or pain". Courage is to withstand fear, danger, and adversity whether moral or physical; risking your own personal safety. Anuradha is a phenomenal woman who has endured physical and emotional abuse from her former husband. Since then she has dedicated her life to saving the lives of those (mainly children) who have fallen victim to human trafficking. Anuradha has helped over 12,000 people since 1994 and continues to reach out today. On October 8, 2011, Anuradha was honored by CNN with the "Hero's Award", which is one of many awards she has received for her efforts to save lives. Anuradha is a historical figure who has raided brothels and also provides shelter and support services for victims. The criminals who lure and abduct innocent women and children have friends in high places including political and government officials.
