Are Our Ideas of Future Technology Realistic??

We imagine the future as a world that depends on technology, more than we do today. Including, flying cars, learning helmets, holographic phones, Utopia, etc, but are these realistic ideas?
In the early 1900’s, artists imagined airplanes and flying cars as our normal transportation, robots that do our everyday chores like Rosie from the Jetsons by the year 2000. Not only that but, in the European postcards, you can see that the details in the image stay the same. For example in one photo there is a car that is projecting a movie on the moon, it is based on the way they saw movies at that time. They never imagined a big screen theatre with all of us in a mildly comfy seat, instead of a car. Also instead of projecting movies in the sky, we have done other things such as playing Tetris, which shows we have surpassed that level of technology. This proves that the cards are displaying some misinterpretation.
Though, some of those ideas are things we dream to accomplish in a few more centuries, or even decades because of the technology we have already collected. Scientists in Vienna have achieved this technology and created a prototype that travels 124mph or 4 hours which is enough to reach Aberdeen from London (about 546.6 miles). With this technology now, we can develop it into traveling regularly and use it for everyday cars.
Nowadays, we make predictions basing them off theoretical processes, and start to create them using old theories or plans relating to the idea. It’s because we don’t create something out of nothing. For example the men who created LED light bulbs must have used Thomas Edison's lightbulb technology to create it. Not only that, but even Thomas Edison have had to use Joseph’s Swans ideas and from the very beginning, off of daylight.
Technology is developing differently all over the world but we can’t put a time line on it because we cannot control the future. The future is unpredictable in any circumstance, including technology. Predicting the next step in technology is possible but when is unrealistic. For instance, the 1900’s scientists had predicted the technology of transportation by the 2000’s, because they never experienced the hardships in order to achieve such technological feats.
Based on facts, we can predict technological advancements but we can’t predict when. It’s easy to assume when technological advancements will occur however in past experiences we will never be able to have hard evidence on timing.
