Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Imagine people living in a world where, sound, images, sight and thoughts are shifting and constantly changing. Individuals not able to function or focus on anything that is around them, their mind wandering from one thing to another. In a society where people are so lost they do not notice when someone is talking to them. This is what people experience that have ADHD, it affect three to five percent of children and more likely occur much less in girl than boys. Boys are two to three times more subjected to the disorder. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a disorder that makes it difficult for individuals to focus on paying attention or to control their impulses. Individuals with condition such as attention deficit have a hard time sitting still or performing tasks that require instructions. The disorder has to do with the brain not being able to function at the time the individual is born. Some the main characteristics of people diagnose with ADHD are they put off thing that require mental effort, show a repeat signs of failure.
ADHD is a disorder that is present in adult, teens and children. It has not been determine what causes ADHD, but there are varies factors that contributes to the disorder; such as a person's diet, physical and social environment, and their genetics. The major signs of ADHD are hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention. Depending on what type of ADHD that an individual's has, they tend to have trouble following direction, waiting in line, forgetting or losing thing, tends to be fidget, are easily distracted, and are very careless. Symptoms such as these tend to occur over a period of time, different symptoms appears at certain time and location, such as home, school, or work. Symptoms of hyperactivity appear more often in adults, some others problem with concentration and organization is more obvious. Sometimes individuals seem to appear normal, leading people to believe that they can control their behavior.
In 1993, New England Journal of Medicine and the Washington Post discuss the actuality of a feasible link between a condition, called generalized resistance to thyroid hormone and hyperactivity that is present in about ten percent of individuals that have ADHD. The disorder is a significant problem that affects children, adolescent, and the adult population. It causes inattentive and overactive in children. The children tend to have problem in their home and school. The disorder is known to cause high level activity in children, which interferes with relationship and they can cause harm to others or themselves. ADHD is frequency increasing in children, adolescent, as well as adults. ADHD is frequently misdiagnosed in adults and children, mainly girls are the ones mainly under diagnosed.
The disorder makes it difficult to raise children (Neff, 2007). Young children experience sleep problems, temper tantrums, stubbornness, and excessive bedwetting. These children are more accident prone, accidental poisonings than normal population, and easy to sustain serious harm. Children with this disorder are difficult to deal with. As young children, they frequently experience excessive bedwetting, sleep problems, temper tantrums, and stubbornness. ADHD is said to be the most frequency disorder behavioral of childhood, the past years has seen a rise in adolescents as well as adults with the disorder for treatment.
Alcohol and substance abuse is a real problem with adolescents with ADHD, they start at a young age abusing dangerous drug than the normal children their age population.
