To amply give patients the quality health care services they need there is sometimes the need to improve, expand or even rebuild the health care facilities to keep up with their needs and stay current with new technologies. Before any type of change is started, facility planners should verify what finances are available for the project. Health care services are a necessary commodity and should be easily accessible when needed. The location should be sanitary and meet patients' immediate needs. The facility in this paper is Baptist Health Medical Clinic in Stuttgart, Arkansas. This clinic built a new building a few years ago to meet the current needs of the community .This paper will focus on the community or facility needs, the population it serves, and a description of the facility.
Description of Facility
Baptist Health Medical Clinic is a regional health and wellness center located in Stuttgart, Arkansas. Baptist Health offers advanced care, close to home. The original clinic, Stuttgart Regional Medical Center, opened in 1957. In 2009 the facility became a part of the Baptist Health system, and built a new and updated clinic to meet the community needs. Baptist Health Medical Clinic of Stuttgart is licensed by the state of Arkansas. This clinic is one of seven Baptist Health Medical Clinics in Arkansas and is a member of several major health networks, and is a member of the Arkansas and American Hospital Association and is also Medicare certified (Baptist Health Medical Clinic, 2012). Baptist Health Medical Clinic of Stuttgart is a developing healthcare facility, devoted to serving the people of Arkansas County and surrounding regions with quality care delivered by experienced and compassionate professionals.
Population Served
Stuttgart, AR is a town with a population of about 10,000 people but is the center for a rural farming community that involves several small towns. Baptist Health Stuttgart Medical Clinic offers a wide array of medical services for the whole family serving the healthcare needs of Stuttgart and its neighboring towns. With the nearest large medical facility being over sixty miles away Baptist Health offers as many services as it can for its patients. The median age of residents of the Stuttgart area is 37. However, there is a fair amount of residents 55 and older. At least thirty-five percent of residents have been given a high blood pressure diagnosis by a doctor. Twelve percent of residents have asthma, nine percent have diabetes, sixty five percent are overweight, and another twenty three percent have heart disease (Arkansas Department of Health Center for Health Statistics, 2003).
