Thesis: Despite firearms easy accessibility and purchase, firearm usage should be limited to decrease the average 1,500 accidental firearm deaths yearly because firearms serve as a weapon for self-defense when the police fail to provide protection to the general public. Also to restore equilibrium allowing citizens to protect themselves legally against the illegal possession of firearms, thus protecting public safety.
I. According to Dosomething.org, There are no federal laws that prevent minors the access to firearms.
A. The Federal Gun Free School Zone Act of 1995 says that individuals with firearms are prohibited from walking within 1,000 feet of any school.
B. Frequent firearm self-inflicted and unintentional injuries have derived from the victim's home or a relative's home.
C. Researchers of RAND-UCLA have confirmed that 35% of homes with children contain at least one firearm.
II. In 1993, The Brady Act was established requiring the United States to set up a background checking system which became known as the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

Requiring a safe location for the storage of firearms with a punishment of imprisonment would decrease these injuries.
