The topic I chose to write about is the Bill of Rights. A.E. Dick Howard is the author of the article called the "Bill of Rights" (1991). I found this article of the Bill of Rights (In The Reader & apos;s Companion to American History, 1991). I found this article to be informative because I learned a lot about out country while reading this article. If you like to read about history this article will be a good one to read. In the article of the Bill of Rights it talks about the amendments of the U.S. Constitution. The statement that pops to my head that the thesis for this article is "Such debate notwithstanding, there is no doubt that the Bill of Rights, as symbol and the rule of law" (1991). This statements means that its not just any old document that just anybody can live by, it also a very important document that everybody cant live by and stay true to with their way of life.
Do you ever wonder what the world would be like without the Bill of Rights? The world today would be a mess with out the freedom of speech. Like the first amendment states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances" (1991). So we are very lucky that we have the Bill of Rights to protect us from a lot of things. If we didn't have the freedom of speech no one will be able to say what's on their mind at all.
