1. Introduction

Biomechanics is the science of movement of a living body, including how muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments work together to produce movement.

2. BIOMECHANICS IN SPORT/ATHLETICS

Biomechanics is related to sport because it help you with performance. I use biomechanics because it will improve my javelin throwing technique, therefore making me throw further.

Biomechanics to important to sport because it helps us with things that we can't do, For example throwing height, angle of release and position of the body.

3. CUES (STEPS INVOLVED) & TECHNIQUE

* Stand with feet together

* Chin-knee-toe position with weight over the rear leg

* Hips are forward

* Feet point in the throwing direction

* Throwing arm held parallel to the ground, long and relaxed, not straight, with the palm uppermost

* Rear leg drives the hips to the front, transferring the weight from right to left leg

* Throwing arm is brought through fast and last

* The elbow should be kept high and close to the head, with the javelin being thrown over the top of the head

4. PROJECTILE MOTION

Projectile motion refers to the motion of an object projected into the air at an angle. For examples: a soccer ball begin kicked in the air, a baseball being thrown, athlete throwing a shot put.

When analysing projectile motion I will be looking at the following components in my Javelin throw:

* Angle of Release

* Height of Release

4. Angle of Release

Angle of release us the time the object stay in the air and the horizontal distance the object move.

The angle, relative to the ground, at which a body is projected into the air. The angle of release is an important factor affecting the flight path of a projectile. For any given speed of release, the angle of release which produces maximum horizontal displacement is 45o, assuming a constant relative projection height, and that there is no spin or
