Building and establishing positive relationships with infants and toddlers is important because it gives us an early opportunity to communicate with them and teach them. "For infants and toddlers, a positive relationship with one or more adults is essential for optimum growth and development" (Raikes & Edwards, 2009). Children need positivity around them. all children should have positive relationships, supportive environments and coaching, but only some children will need intensive individual interventions.
I know personally when I was growing up I had a lot of love around me, or at least the right amount of love to get me through my early yaers. I got to go to fun places and even have one on ones with my parents mainly because they had opposite work schedules.
With my daughter I try to be as loving and poistive as I can be. When she's crying and upset rather than yell at her or get me I try to calm her down to see what is wrong. Then I find a solution. For example, I'll be doing my hoework ans she is in the room screaming her head off, I cannot concentrate. I'll put my books to the side place her on my lap and ask her to look at me. I'll then hug her tell her to calm down and ask her what's wrong. Most of the time she'll say a name which means she either wants that person or that person did something to her she did not like.
