His name is Bruce Ottersbach. He is a son, brother, dad, grandpa, and great friend. He brings joy to all the people he meets and can always brighten up a sad situation. He will answer any question with ease no matter if it's factual or just a personal problem. Bruce Ottersbach is my grandfather and hero.

Bruce Ottersbach was once a Charlestown High School football coach and was the leader of 40 plus young man every day. He led them on to a battlefield every Friday no matter who they were going up against. He brings these great leadership skills to me every time I see him. He always makes sure that I'm keeping my teams on the road to victory and making the right decisions. I hope to use these skills he teaches me so that I can one day grow up and have a leadership position in whatever I do, and then succeed at it.

Bruce was also an adopted father. While living in his original home in Portland, Louisville he was asked by a priest at his church to look after a young man who had just left a gang. Bruce took in the man risking is safety to bring a home to someone else. He took out all of his guns and hid them away from his home. He put the young man on a safe path in life. After a couple of months the young man left and pursued his own life. He would soon return in need of help. He had gone back to gang banging and drugs. One day after a hard day's work Bruce came in search of comfort, but came home to horror. They young man had committed suicide. This story taught me of how to help anyone that needs help even if heartbreak and safety could be at risk.

Bruce Ottersbach is more than a grandfather; he is also a best friend. Bruce or Poppy as I like to call him has been there for me ever since the day I was born. It is rumored that I was the first person to ever make him smile. I love every minute I get to spend with him. I've never had a boring moment with him. I love the emotional talks he gives me, because they show the love he has for me. I don't know what I would do without my Poppy always being there for me.

I chose these things to talk about, because they are the most important to me. Whenever I recall these stories or moments I just think of all the great moments that I have with Poppy. They either show his love for me or great passion for making me into a great young man. I just want to grow up just like him.
