In the latest era, technology rules the world, relationship building might be considered a last option that slowly becoming extinct. Our daily communications and interactions have become transactional instead of relational. Most of us have never been taught the importance of building relationships with others. And as we grow up, we hear our parents tell us about maintaining good grades and making sure that we follow rules, but seldom were we taught on how to build relationship with others.
Relationships between humans are very important whether it is a personal or business relationship. Relationships can provide security and a feeling of belonging to a group; it also means being sensitive and understanding the feeling of the other party, this is important in creating a relationship. Respect is the very foundation for a great relationship. Respect can be achieved by simply listening to the other party and understand how they function and also by respecting your differences. Being yourself also helps in building a harmonious relationship. By showing who you really are, you let the other party to know more about you, this will build trust. You should not make promises that you can't keep and don't create expectations you can't fulfill. As mentioned earlier, relationships are building with trust and trust is build when you show integrity in your words and actions. Being in a harmonious relationship means you have to be a good listener rather than a good talker. Being a good listener in our time now is a real great talent. Everyone is too busy and too preoccupied with their own life that they lack time to listen. Take time to listen, respect, and trust to build a harmonious relationship.
A happy and harmonious relationship starts with you. It begins when you start to become interested in other's welfare, wants and interest, not solely on your own. Learn to adjust and be flexible with the people you deal with instead of complaining and criticizing the other person then change them for the better that's when you will start to gain true happiness, unity, teamwork and friendship with other people.
