2016 Market Innovations
I have learned that emotions and thoughts have always been pretty much the same as our ancestors and that the way everything works is in a circle motion. The only thing that we can see change and move forward often is technology and the ability to make human life a little bit simpler. Examples of this is the invention of electricity, the washer and dryer, the computers and smartphone world, dishwashers, vacuum cleaners and so on. All of the mentioned products have helped society to let go of the hard work and do more multi-tasking things or just to relax while the dishes are been cleaned. Brian Halligan once said: “to be successful and grow your business and revenues, you must match the way you market your products with the way your prospects learn about and shop for your products." My propositions below are with an intended market and special circumstances in the daily routines of everyday. In this case study you will find new product ideas and some additional features that already existing products could sell out.
We all know how hard it is to wake up in the mornings when you have to go to work and or school. Like most of the population now a day we hit that snooze button about three to five times before we actually get out of bed. Because well, let’s be honest that sound is pretty bad, means you have to leave home and face the real world. You can now find a carpet that works as an alarm and you will have to place your feet on it in order for it to stop waking you up. There is also an app for your phone that you can set up by scanning a bar code that you can only find in your bathroom (i.e. deodorant). The only way to make this alarm shut up is by scanning that item every time the alarm goes off. I think those ideas are clever but then again you might not wake up in a good spirit, especially if you are already not a morning person. Researches have shown that the lack of sleep on today’s population is at its highest. Meaning people do not take serious the importance of a good night sleep giving them some health consequences later in life. Yes indeed everything is connected. With this in mind, my idea is to develop a pillow that is still soft and fluffy but at the same time can help you wake up with either nature noises or with your favorite slow song. Maybe that song that reminds you of a loved one or a very nice occasion. No worries there will be no need to think of having an electrical cord attached to the pillow, because this product will be wireless. This will give you the freedom to set the pillow in any way that it is most comfortable for you to have that good night sleep. The market price for the “Wake Pillow” will be between $25.00 to $30.00 per pillow. The price is a little high, but you will thank me in the morning when you are rested and not in a bad mood because that old alarm sound woke you up.
Another item I have thought of is for those people who are always cold at the office. Heated office chairs! Yes just like those heated seats that fancy cars have. I am one of those people that is always cold at the office, but to always look professional I do not bring a blanket to work, for two reasons: people might think I am weird and two it will limit me to work comfortably. The market price for these chairs will be between $195.00 to $250.00, the price variation is not just depending on the shipping area, but the add on features that you will like for the chair to have, such as wireless remote control from your phone and lower back massage roller. The market price also includes a good return policy and a one year warranty. This warranty will be at customer’s discretion. By this I am not assuming that I will have a high return on my product but I want the customer to feel comfortable in making the purchase. Since the price is high for an office chair, I have decided to use marketing tools such as discounts and free shipping. Consumers tend to be attracted by those two tools the most when online shopping.
