Business Assessment Skills

My Introduction to IT

In thinking of things that I've done that I pride myself in there are a few. One thing in particular was back when I was in high school when I was deciding that I want to learn more about trouble shooting and repairing pc's . It started when I went to a store and bought a computer that was so called on sale, which was in a news paper ad Once I got home I realized that the machine wasn't what I expected it to be. So I decided to ask the IT person who work at my school and I found out that the system was really out dated. Upon finding this out I went back to the store to return the machine and they refused.

Once this happen I realized that I was out of the money I spent but I needed a new functioning machine. So I proceeded to ask the It person about what some of the current features I should look for in a computer and what it should cost at that time.

In my research I came across a store that was just opening and I spoke to the owner and explained to him my situation. He gave me a good deal on upgrading the system that I had. Once he did this I asked him if I could volunteer helping out around the store so I can learn more about the craft he, so he agreed and said yes because he could use the help.

I started to go to the store every day after school and sometimes on the weekend. I was progressing well and the owner of the store was noticing, so one day he needed a computer to be built and he was in a rush and had to leave the store. I was very nervous because I never had to build a computer from scratch and two because I had the whole responsibility of running the store alone. However I took my time and read the manuals on the parts for the computer and dealt with incoming customers as they came in. I successfully built the computer without any incident and I made it through the day. When the owner returned he stated that he knew I could do it and let me do it more often. From this experience I learned that I am capable of more than I give myself credit for.
