Homework Assignment 2

I always wanted to pursue a career in finance so for this assignment I contacted Phillip

Kemp. Phillip is a financial analyst for ConocoPhillips, a fortune 500 oil company with over

29,000 employees. Phillip has been at ConocoPhillips for about seven months and he is still

getting adjusted to working there. When asked about software he named two main applications

that are used in the everyday activity at his company: Tableau Server Business Intelligence and

Tenrox PSA. Tableau Server Business Intelligence is a business intelligence application that

provides browser-based analytics. This software is used to pull information from the companies

database to make more accurate business decisions. Phillip praised this software due to the ease

of use and the fact that the software is also available for the iPad, which allows for more

portability when working on financial analyst.

The second software he mentioned was Tenrox PSA, a cloud-based project management

software. This software allows for project teams to work together and communicate on projects

on a global level without losing productivity. Tenrox PSA software is workflow-driven and the

software automates project initiation, resource management, billing, invoicing, reporting and

analytics. Philip also loved this software because it allows for real-time communication and

decision-making in a team setting. Being that he has only been ConocoPhillips for seven months

there has not been much change in the technologies he uses at his workplace Depending on the

task at hand anywhere from 50% to 75% of Phillip's workday could be spent using these two

softwares.
