Executive Summary
Business Service
Our start-up would provide food delivery service to the ASU community. The idea is in pre-incorporation stages. We anticipate with the right mentorship and funding we will be launching in fall 2015 for beta testing and running fully 2 months post beta.
The Market
Our target market is collegiate campuses and its on-campus students, faculty, & employees. Our first market would be specifically Arizona State’s on-campus students, faculty, & employees. Our market would be anticipated to expand to include the top 5 largest universities in the U.S. over a 2 year period.
Competition
We would be competing directly with “Topingo,” & potentially “DoorDash” depending on its expansion into AZ-Tempe market. We have a competitive advantage because of our lower delivery fees than Topingo and improved delivery times. We also have the advantage of being familiar with the ASU-Tempe area and would offer more restaurant options, which is what our customers seek, Options. We do not anticipate other competitors coming into market, but it is possible based on Topingo’s growth that it could be acquired; this can be positive or negative to our outlook based on who the acquiring company and their intentions for the business. We also don’t anticipate that Door Dash will directly compete with our target market even if it enters the Tempe area.
Risk/Opportunity
The greatest risks associated with our business are losing customers to the more established Topingo. We feel we can overcome this with an aggressive marketing and branding strategy that appeals to college students. Another big risk is identifying the appropriate app developer to create a user-friendly interphase that is easy to use, quick, & informative. We feel we can overcome this by finding a strong app developing candidate and/or company to manage the technology aspect, an area in which we could use more expertise.
Capital Requirements
We are seeking funds to help in the set-up of our website, to develop our app and provide for the hiring of delivery personnel, and lastly the purchase of delivery tools (bicycles, smart phones, helmets, etc). As mentioned we would like to grow outside of the ASU Tempe Campus to other large universities.
