When considering the characteristics of your audience, you need to understand whether they are upper level management, general employees, or clients and customers. You would not write as formal of a letter to employees as you would upper level management. When writing to clients and customers, you would not to go into details as to why changes are being made. This would be reserved for management and employees.
2. What communication channels are appropriate?
Appropriate channels of communication are face-to-face, phone calls, instant messaging, emails and letters.
3. What are some considerations to keep in mind given the diversity of the audience?
When writing to a diversity of audiences, refrain from using gender or racial remarks. If your audience is older, refrain from using slang. Refrain from using large words to make yourself sound smart. This in turn could potentially make you sound pompous.
4. How do you ensure your message is effective?
To ensure the effectiveness of your message, make sure it is organized and straight and to the point.
