Matthew, I think that it is perfectly legal to open a business and hire whomever you want. I do not think it is a good idea to necessarily say that you are only hiring Christians. I say this because then you open yourself up to a lawsuit of people claiming that you are discriminating against them because they are not Christians. I would recommend you hire people that are best qualified with high morals. You could set your standards high when it comes to morals. You can have a level of what you expect your employees to believe and support. This way people will see that you are looking for honest and trustworthily people. This way you are getting the best qualified people for your business. Also many people claim to be Christians simply because they believe in God. You have to be careful here Matthew because some people may think and believe they are Christians but live according to the world. This is why I say it would be better to seek out people with high morals who are qualified for the factory positions that you are trying to fill.
Also if you have people who have high morals who are good people and well qualified you may actually reach them for the Lord in living as an example. God may have brought people to an interview that He wants you to reach, but you are rejecting them simply because they don't believe in the Lord Jesus yet. Matthew 28:19 and 20 says, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." God wants us to go to the lost and bring them into His kingdom. If you hire only believers you lose this aspect of what God has called believers to do.
If this was a Christian school it would be different because it would be supported by the church. There are different legal standards when it comes to separation of church and state. The government can't control what the church does so long as they are not harming individuals.
