Part 1: Bio (300 words)
Who is the person you chose to study? What is their title and how do they fuction within the company? What are their responsibilities and duties? Who do they work for and how many employees do they oversee? What experience in their past led them to the position they have today?
Part 2: Communication Style (400 words)
Referencing what you read in Chapter 1, define how this person communicates. Are they formal or informal? Is their style, from what you can tell, upward, downward or horizontal? How do they handle their employees? How do they handle the media, if that is part of their job? Do you know how they developed this style? Did they have a mentor after whom they model themselves?
Part 3: Case Study (400 words)
In order to examine more closely your subject's communication style, choose an event or series of events that illustrates his or her communication style in action. For example, if you shose a sports coach, pick a press conference that occurred after a significan event and examine how they handled it. Were they friendly and forthcoming with information or hostile and withdrawn? Cite specific examples and use direct quotations, if possible.
Part 4: Critique (300 words)
Express your own opinion and cite the opinion of others when it comes to this person's communication style.
Part 5: Effect on Company (300 words)
How has this person's leadership style, or lack of one, had an effect on the company he or she works for or owns? Has it affected the performance of the company? What about its reputation? Is the leader and the company one-and-the-same (such as Steve Jobs and Apple Computer)? Or are they independent of each other? Cite evidence to support your claims.
Make sure to include a Works Cited section.
