Note: Kharif growing season is during the summer monsoon and the Rabi growing season is furing the winter monsoon.

Note: I am going to use these two sets of data to explain the decrease in major food crops in India and how that will ultimately effect food security. I am also going to explain how global warming’s effect on the monsoon seasons has led to these changes in the growing seasons.
PUT MAP HERE
Going to use where the crops are grown in India to determine which growing season each states highly depends on and then look at whether they are flood prone areas and use that for my map.
So:
- Areas depending on summer monsoon are Kharif growing season (lot of precipitation) –
- Flood prone – Zone Red (Asw-R)
- In these areas, agriculture are greatly affected by monsoon season – the high potential for flooding puts them at risk of crop output
- Non flood prone – Zone Green (Asw-G)
- Areas depending on winter monsoon are Rabi growing season (little precipitation)-
- Flood prone – Zone Red (Aww-R)
- The crops grown in this area do not receive a lot of precipitation and the threat of floods put the crop output at risk
- Non flood Prone – Zone Green (Aww-G)
