I was at Foam and Wash's Mobil Mart and Gas station today to observe their operations, while on my lunch break from Foam and Wash's Oil Change Plus. While I was there I noticed only 3 people working. One was a young women mid 20's I believe, the other lady there had to be at least in her 40's if not her 50's and the third person there was the manager. I knew she was the manager because she had a different shirt on; it was darker blue with white letters saying MANAGER. I would say that they were diverse, even though there were no males to be seen I know that they do have a few males on their staff ranging in ages between 20-50. They women were very friendly to the customers and knew how to handle them if they were upset. Foam and Wash has been out of gas for the last day in a half. People came in pretty mad that there was no gas and the staff politely told them why they didn't have any and when they would be getting a delivery. This staff looked like they had great motivation. This is a big change from the Oil Change staff. The women seemed very happy to be at work and didn't stop working for a minute. If there weren't any customers they would be cleaning up or restocking the floor. Everything seemed to be going smoothly both women had great communication skills with each other. If one left the cashier station to clean and a ton of customers came in she run back to the register to help without any one asking her to do so. The manager came out and told the women that their shift was ending soon and that they did a great job with all the customers and that if they needed anything to just let her know. While I was there I saw these guys scanning all the products in (like chips and candy bars). I asked the manager what they were doing and she said inventory we pay them to come in and keep track of it since we have so much stuff in the store its easier for them to come in during the day. I believe that the business model is to keep their customers happy, by having great customer service.
