Crash is a 2004 film written by Paul Haggis. The film exposes different kinds of social and multi-cultural differences. It explains and gives us examples of how the conduct act of others affects us in today's society. The film focuses on two behaviors, stereotyping and racial discrimination. The behaviors are seeing to be thoughts and feelings we have all experienced throughout our lives. The movie takes place in Los Angeles over a two day period where characters events are interconnected with one another. It's set up where a "crash" in the first scene is being observed by detectives and then rewinds to the day before showing how all of the behavior of the characters lead to it.
The first scene shows us two black males in a setting of white people. The black males are seen as "gang bangers". As leaving a restaurant they one of the black males describes to his buddy how white people are racists and stereotypical. Where we see shortly after, the white women's instincts were correct as her and the husband were robbed of their vehicle by the two black males. In the second scene we see a purison immigrant running a convenient store. He tries to purchase a gun by a white man and cannot buy it because he's viewed differently. The mother of a black detective and one of the "gang bangers" is distraught throughout the film because her son gets killed by a white police officer who felt in danger while giving the boy a ride home. A high class white woman is married to a light skinned black man who hides his race throughout the film to be kept from the way others see them. One of the police officers in the movie, a white middle aged man is said to be a racist by a couple who he pulled over as he suspected interracial activities. The woman is upset with her husband as he refused to stand up to the officer as he fondled his wife to "check" for weapons. Later on, the woman is caught in a bind where she crashes her car. To the point where she has to trust the particular officer who lost her respect by touching her inappropriately in order to survive. She comes to the realization that he is there to help her. In a scene the man who purchased the gun with the help of his daughter shows his true colors when he attempts to kill a Mexican locksmith who got angry with him as he spoke distrustful towards him because he couldn't fix a door to the store. This particular man shows no racial discrimination through the movie. He is a man just trying to provide for his family. The detective is in s interracial relationship with a white women detective who he knows his mother will not appreciate. The gang bangers robbed the husband of the high class black women to where they get pulled over by a racist officer. One of which disagreed with the discrimination. So he stepped in a said "its okay, I know this man hold your arms". Getting him off with a warning. The black gang banger still in the car
