Critical Analysis On: Value Based Candidate Selection At LinkedIn: One Hiring Manager’s Approach

LinkedIn Culture:

LinkedIn value its employees most, and always put them first in every situation under its core value of Our Member Comes First. They really work on the retention of the employees by indulging them in different kinds of activities i.e. (InDays, HackDays) and give them opportunity to transform their selves by rotating their jobs duties and by giving them autonomy of doing the work as they feel comfortable. They highly appreciate the rights things to do and to take intelligent risks by not leaving the sense of humor, teamwork, constructive criticism and have an open door policy for every kind of idea and problem discussion.

Critical analysis of Lindsay Response:

  • She choose to help the employee. While not leaving the meeting and calling her other team member and ask them to help the employee by providing any financial help needed to that lady and etc.
  • The answer meet with the expectation of Ryan as this is what he also did when the fire ruined everything of one of his employee.
  • She had done an excellent job by assessing the long term and short term benefits and risks associated with this situation. The tips from the classroom teachings, and also the prior knowledge of the LinkedIn cultural values helped her solving the case.

Critical Analysis of Interview Question and Interview Technique:

  • Interview question was excellent as it helps the employer to know the personal values of the candidate and their knowledge about the LinkedIn culture. Situational questions are actually tells the analytical ability and decision making power of the candidate.
  • Phone Call interview is a cost effective and time saving technique. It prevents them from the appearance biases of candidates, and interviewer focused more on the answers given by interviewee. But at least one interview should be done face to face for knowing the person confidence level. As LinkedIn believes in the team work and OCB.
