11. Some people achieve popularity, wealth, and power without appearing to be strong critical thinkers, but you're saying that this can't happen to me. This claim is mistaken because for someone to achieve popularity, wealth, or power they do not need to appear to be strong critical thinkers, and it can happen to anyone. Anyone can be popular, wealthy, and have power.
12. I'm already very confident in my critical thinking ability, so there is no reason for me to go any further in this book. This claim is mistaken because someone should never feel very confident in any ability for them to stop studying. There are always new things to study and read about. Just because you feel good and ready about it does not mean, you know it all and that you do not need to continue reading about critical thinking.
13. If critical thinking is mental process, then it will not help me learn the informational content of my other college courses.
This claim is mistaken because critical thinking will not exactly help you learn information in other college courses. Critical thinking is a natural part of life. Critical thinking is a method that will help you succeed but, it will not help you gain information on its own. Critical thinking is not an exact science, although there are guidelines that a person can follow to become a successful in other college courses.
14. You are only going to make trouble for yourself by rocking the boat with challenging questions and demands for reasons and evidence. Hey, you got to go along to get along.
This claim is mistaken because you do not always have to be the best and be known to get along with others. No one has to be the best to be known and to get along.
15. I'm always disagreeing with authority figures, so I must be a great critical thinking.
This claim is mistaken because by you disagreeing with authority figures does not mean you must be a great critical thinker. By you disagreeing with authority figures may just be the way you think and predict things. It does not exactly mean your great with critical thinking; it may have nothing to do with it anyways.
16. I like many of the things that my city, county, state and national government does, so I must be a weak critical thinker.
This claim is mistaken because just for you to like and agree with what your government does with your city, and county does not mean you have to be weak at critical thinking. We all have different opinions on how are government directs our state.
17. It is fine to apply critical thinking in education, business, science, law enforcement, and international problems, but there is no place for critical thinking in religious matters.
This claim is mistaken because critical thinking can also be used in religious matters.
