"Culture clash is when two or more cultures disagree about their beliefs or way of life."(answers.com, 2011) How does culture clash effect individuals? Culture clash affects individuals by changing their personal views, which causes conflicts. There are many different cultures that influence an individual's personal views. The influences of many different cultures cause conflict and negative effects. There are more young people than old people and the younger generation deals with culture clash more than the older generations.
There are many cultures that influence different beliefs and ways of life on individuals that may change their personal views. Regional culture is one of the cultures that influence and individuals beliefs. If an individual belongs to more than one background both nationalities influence and clash. Religious culture is a culture than can change an individual's personal views. If a person has parents that belong to different religions their household is influenced by both making it difficult for them to follow one. Media culture/popular culture is a culture that heavily influences people in our society today, not just young people but everyone. The media's images send a message that is widely received influencing the things we buy and the way we dress. The beliefs of traditional customs and other cultures usually don't advocate the same message, which changes an individual's personal views.
These influences cause many conflicts and negative effect such as negative emotions and feelings towards oneself or others. Confusion is one of the main emotions felt by people who experience culture clash in their lives. A person may get one message from one culture and another message from another culture creating confusion in their lives on which one to follow or which one is more important. Stress and misunderstanding are also negative emotions caused by the influence of different cultures clashing. People who are influenced by many cultures and are not properly educated about them tend to misunderstand the cultures and misunderstand the people who really belong to them. This creates stress for the people who really belong to the culture because they are misunderstood. Discrimination and racism are common feelings felt by individuals who are influenced by many cultures and feel misunderstood.
