Identify the constraints (undesirable effects) (physical policies, measurement related) in your organization/system which affect performance

This CRT (Current Reality tree) analysis is being done for the Retail (Petrol Pump) department of Bharat Petroleum, which consists of Sales/Marketing officers and Engineering/Construction Officers.First we list down the undesirable Effects (UDEs)

  1. UDE-1:  Sales People are Overloaded
  1. This impacts performance of Sales people in a way that most of their time is wasted in procedural works and MIS data sharing that they are not able to spend their quality time in the Dealer Network to develop it, promote it among customers and increase the market share, which is the main role of Sales Team.
  1. UDE-2: Transfer Policy is not Transparent
  1. In the upcountry the staff doesn’t get transfers in time. While the Transfer is due in 3 years, many keep waiting for upto 6-8 years. This effects their families, personal lives and heavily demotivates them to perform.
  2. Also there are certain cases who get transferred even before the transfer is due. This creates a strong negativity  in field which affects the overall faith in corporate work culture and thus willingness to perform for the company.
  1. UDE-3: Engineering Team is overloaded
  1. Engineering team which is responsible for Construction of Petrol Pumps and Upgradation and Renovation of Existing pumps is under business sales pressure to deliver. They often cater to huge number of districts and Retail outlets. Often for Speedy executions due to business pressures, their efficiency/output quality and compliance to set norms is often impacted : [pic 1][pic 2]

FIGURE – 1 : CRT (CURRENT REALITY TREE)

(Show CCC &/or CRT that validates cause-&-effect.) Identify the assumptions and core conflicts that arises from these constraints

We club up the UDEs into one set of homogenous undesirable effect “SALES/ENGG workforce is overloaded”.  This we will call “D”. Then we make a consolidated statement of desired effect i.e.-  “SUFFICIENT SALES/ENGINEERING workforce is available to cater to all job requirements “

The Project here is to ensure network expansion and existing network development to meet the Objective of becoming most profitable company. Through Core Conflict Cloud (CCC) (a type of Evaporating Cloud Thinking process)   we will identify the Core Conflict and try to iron it out in order to resolve the Core Problem or Wants to Meet the Needs and Achieve company Objective.
