According to some psychologists, "depression is a mental health disorder that affects the way you feel about yourself, the way you think about things. In other words, it's a feeling of sadness and insatisfaction that derives from the experiences that had a strong negative impact on your personality. It is characterized by a low self-esteem and a feeling of weakness. Overcoming this serious psychological disorder is very difficult, however, if you develop your interests, keep a positive attitude, and figure out why you are depressed, you will undoubtedly find you psychological stability.

The first step to begin with is to develop interests, and participate in activities. As a matter of fact, activities play a crucial role in our mental health. They contribute in a considerable way to self-esteem and a feeling of pride; especially, when you feel able to accomplish a task. It helps you also to find your happiness that you have lost through their different kinds. There are activities that are pleasurable, constructive, and others altruistic. The pleasurable activities provide you with a sense of enjoyment by interacting with others. The constructive ones lead you to satisfaction and a feeling of pride when accomplishing a project or a task, and finally the altruistic activities that let you feel in charge in your life, and that you are indispensable in other's life. For instance, when helping a sick person, you feel able to contribute in his enjoyment. In this way, you will forget your problems and personal concerns.

The second step that you should follow is to keep a positive attitude. In others words, you should accept sadness and suffering as normal parts of life. You have to be aware that life is a full of difficulties and obstacles that we are supposed to face in order to build our personality. That's why; we have to love life in the face of suffering. We have also to be persistent which means that we should never give up easily, and always analyze the problems, and develop a system or strategy to attack the obstacles that you face in life. If your strategy doesn't work, you should try to find another way to solve your problems. You should know how to deal with each situation and how to react with it.

The third and the last step that you should go after is to figure out why you are depressed. It's important to study carefully your depression and make your personal observations of it. As a matter of fact, thinking of the reasons that makes you feel depressed and sad can help you to know how you deal with causes in order to solve the problems. It is regarded as an opportunity to learn from your past experiences and apply what you have learned in your future in order that you don't repeat the same errors. Everything passes first from these personal efforts that you have to make on yourself.
