Baseball is America's favorite pastime. Major League Baseball is made up of the National League and the American League. There are 30 separate teams; each plays a 162 game season. The overall operating income for Major League Baseball (MLB) was 494 million dollars for 2010 (Swatek, 2011). There have numerous discussions on the increasing salaries of baseball. From Nolan Ryan, who in 1979 became the first million dollar baseball player to Alex Rodriguez who earned $31,000,000 in 2011 (Baseball Almanac, 2011). The focus for team A has been to prove or disprove a correlation between players' salaries, team salaries, and team wins. Using descriptive statistics, Team A will examine all data collected and will make conclusions based on our data analysis. Descriptive statistics provide summaries to the measures and samples. Thus, allowing the reader to view a summary of the collected data. Incorporating graphic analysis with the descriptive statistical analysis helps to present a clear straightforward picture. Team A will show the collected data in the central tendency form, which include the mean, median, and mode. Team A will also discuss the dispersion of values, display our descriptive statistical data using graphic and tabular techniques to include, frequency distribution and histograms. The use of graphics and tables help to present the collected data in a visual manner. Once these findings have been thoroughly analyzed, Team A will present a conclusion.
