ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Preparation of a project report for the fulfilment of final year course curriculum was very new experience for us. The project on “DESIGN OF PROGRESSIVE TOOL FOR WASHER MANUFACTURING” was assigned to us and we feel extremely lucky to have been given opportunity to work under such intelligent person. At the very outset, we would like to thank Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Jha (Associate Professor PRODUCTION ENGG.) who guided us in right direction to prepare our project without which the learning experience would not have been possible and this whole exercise would have proved futile.
We would like to thank also Prof.(Dr.)R. K. Srivastava, Prof. Prakash Kumar, Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Subodh Kumar, Prof. A. R. Ansari, Prof. S. P. Verma for their co-operation without which we could not have completed our project successfully.
Lastly we would like to express our solidarity towards the whole PRODUCTION ENGG. Family for providing us such an opportunity which all the way inculcated a technical temperament in us.

ABSTRACT
The benefits of civilisation which we enjoy today are essentially due to the improved quality of products available to us. The improvement in the quality of goods can be achieved with proper design that takes into consideration the functional requirements as well as its manufacturing aspects.
The design process that would take proper care of the manufacturing process as well would be the ideal one. This would ensure a better product being made available at an economical cost.
By the implementation of the computers in design field, designing process became easier and the time also has been reduced. The basic fundamental reason for implementing the computer aided design is to increase the productivity, get more accuracy and also for sub dividing the parts which we required. There by reducing the time for synthesizing, analyzing and documentation purposes .In our project we used AutoCAD for designing a progressive tool. The product which we designed is washer of ID20mm OD50mm & thickness 1.5mm using low carbon steel strip. Generally the progressive tools are called as stage tool. We have done the two stage progressive tool which means the final component will come at second stage. The first stage is the piercing and the second stage is blanking. Both the operations were done simultaneously.
