Determine the revenue of the hotel

The reason why hotels perform statistical data and forecasting is for the purpose of determining the revenue which the hotel is able to generate within a specific time frame (Andrews, 2009, p.338). This therefore helps to compare the performance of the hotel between different periods of time.

Allocation of rooms

Forecasting and statistical data helps the hotel to determine the best possible criteria to allocate the rooms available (Andrews, 2009, p.338). For example, the managers know which guests will occupy certain rooms according to booking and the daily customers who are members in the hotel. This also helps to determine the guests who have departed and guests who have arrived.

Goal setting and improvement

Once the managers have a forecast, they can plan for the goals they need to achieve after a comparison between the previous and the current performance of the hotel. This also determines the areas which need improvement in order to provide quality services to the customers.

Management

Statistical data helps the management of the hotel or restaurant. Managers can easily determine which facilities are needed in large numbers especially during high season and also delegation of duties to the employees equally (BardI, 2011, p.62). Supervision of works also makes it easy for the leaders since they have what they need to accomplish their task.
