With a turbo boost of 2.9GHz, every one of its four cores can handle the most intense programs without even breaking a sweat. The Insprion's mediocre two cores hitting its maximum of 2.3GHz is also great for running simple programs, such as web browsing or media play. However, when the numbers come down to it, HP takes the cake, pie and even cookie in this comparison.

Also contained inside these laptops are the RAM that support their amazing processors. While both use the same type of DDR3 RAM, HP has double the 4GBs of RAM that Dell's Inspiron contains. With 8GBs of RAM, this Pavillon can handle many more programs than the Inspiron could even dream of. Finishing off what's underneath our two potential buys, both laptops are again on equal footing in terms of hard drives. However, these two 5400RPM hard drives have a big difference that will convince the least tech-savy consumer to "buy me, buy me!" The Inspiron's 320GB storage space is no contest when put next to the Pavillon's 750GB.

Aside from these key features, both of these laptops have other components that would help any consumer to pick the best valued laptop. HP's Pavillon can last 10 hours, leaving the Inspiron's measly 4 hour battery life in the dust. With those extra 6 hours of life you have with your brand new Pavillon, you can use those hours to watch movies or listen to music on a screen 1.7" bigger than Dell's 15.6" screen on their inferior Insprion. Not only does Pavillon have components this Insprion lacks, such as memory card reader slots for your camera, it holds true to the HP name.
