There are many differences amongst the people around the world. Some of the differences are gender, culture, nationality, and natives of different countries. And in organizations there are many different people that have different ways of doing things. Therefore, it is good to understand that there is different human behavior in organizations.

A few years ago I worked for a mortgage financing company. I processed mortgage financing loans for mortgage loan officers. It was one particular loan officer named Feter, he was an African descendant. Feter was raised in the United States and he was employed in the company as a Senior Loan Officer and Manager. The company loan processors did not process any loans for Feter's team because his wife did it.

Feter's wife left the company to go work for one of the company subsidiary. He then started to utilize the company loan processors. It was then when I discovered how really different he is from me. Feterl is very different from me not because he's a man of an African descendent. It's because he had poor work ethics. He was unwilling to learn how to originate mortgage loans, he also lack knowledge of the loan programs, processes, and procedures.

It became quite apparent to the company owners that Feter didn't have any clue about originating loans after he started to utilize the company loan processors. Previously his wife has been the spoke person and she did the work. The owners demoted him and it became beneficial for me because Feter needed assistance with originating and processing his loans. The originators get paid more than the processers off the deals. So he would give me more money because I was originating his loans but he would find the clients.

Throughout the whole process it was quite challenging because Feter didn't have any clue to the processes and procedures. He would micro-managed me, and stand over me while I worked. Therefore, I would take longer in processing his loans because he was being a Theory X manager. It made me feel like I was incapable of doing the job. Whereas, if he would of applied the Theory Y manager style, I would have been motivated to make his loans top priority because I was getting paid more off of his loans.

In the field of Organizational Behavior my experience with my co-worker gave me the insight that understanding individual's behaviors in organization are relevant. It's relevant because there are many differences among people and there are difference concepts to be applied to individuals needs. I think I enhanced the situation for the co-worker by addressing my concern about his managing style and lack of knowledge of mortgage originating. Feter then became motivated to learn and we then both thrive to understand each other making if more feasible to work with one another. He was also able to relate to the other processers, loan officers,
