Domestic Problem: Ignorance

America’s problem resides in its new generations Upcoming children are slowly being a bigger problem. They don’t care about the state of the country because it doesn’t affect them personally. Adolescents are sheltered to the extent to where they don’t even see America’s problems and are clueless. They are hidden from reality and are told lies. In the end America’s future will be ruined because of them.

New generations are stuck in their phones, that’s what their world revolves around. Any problems they see or hear about are through a screen and from that a feeling of detachment is made. They are in the safety of their own homes and feel no actual remorse for America’s problems. With constant up to date information about worldwide events being updated continuously, their views on the world is heavily biased. They cannot empathize with those struggling, as they’re being walled off from the true experience from what happens around the world, and with terrible events and disasters occurring almost every day, these events will slowly mean less and less, as they merge into a blur, as if numbing them from understanding these incidents. Examples of these include poverty, climate change, as well as racially motivated attacks. These issues are constantly faced by both those in America, and outside. However, due to the sheer amount of these events, many Americans feel as if this is a minor issue, and not enough focus is being put onto it. This makes it harder for them to empathize with these problems, leading to a more “insensitive” generation.

Adults sheltering their kids does no one any good either. The kids will grow up to be ignorant and blind to reality and having no idea how to deal with life. They will be faced with the truth that they weren’t prepared for. As they are put in charge of their own lives, if they cannot solve their own personal issues, how can one expect them to deal with large scale events that will determine the outcome of the world once they become our leaders? Another example of our newer generations deteriorating is the internet. The internet allows for people to connect all over the world, but due to its mostly casual atmosphere, it hides real life interactions from others, preventing them from building traits that would eventually come into play as they grow older. Traits such as leadership, teambuilding, responsibility, and so forth.

In all, new generations are becoming incapable to see and realize the problems in America and fully understand the full gravity of some of the situations. Experiencing them through their phones gives them an unrealistic sense of indifference towards the problems and protective adults hiding their children from reality undermine their capability’s as adults to make serious decisions. Through all the screens that children have to get through to get to the actual problems its already too late to change them by then. America’s clouded new generations are the biggest problem that the country should worry about.
