So I am choosing to talk about a topic that more than half of all women will face before the age of twenty five (Domestic Violence's). Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. ("Violence against Women, A Majority Staff Report," Committee on the Judiciary, United States Senate, 102nd Congress, October 1992, p.3.) Over three million women each year will be beaten by their lover of the Opposing Sex. Many women live in fear to get help for this matter, reason being they are afraid that they will be judge by their peers and family member. Most women stay in the home where the abuse is taking place because they do not know where to go for help. There are 1,500 shelters for battered women in the United States. There are 3,800 animal shelters. (Schneider, 1990). That's twenty-three hundred more shelters for animal than Battered female. Most of the offender stuffer from either being abused sexual and or fiscally by either a family member as a child, they deal with not having the love of either parent, and most time feel alone in this world with nobody to turn to, most have a history of violent behavior leading back to Daycare and Pre-K. Children whom witness abuse from one parent to another have the strongest risk factor of carrying out violent behaviors. Young Man who witnesses this action is twice more like to abuse their partner during their life time. One woman is beaten by her husband or partner every 15 seconds in the United States. (Uniform Crime Reports, Federal Bureau of Investigation, 1991). Calls made to the police to report Domestic abuse one in ten of them come from a child that is saying within the home Battery from a male partner become increase and more violent over time. A lot of time when these violent behavior take place it is during awhile a female is going through pregnancy with 25% - 45% of all women who are battered are battered during pregnancy (www.clarkprosecutor.org .). Almost 7.8 million women have been raped by their intimate partner which is a sign that if their partner has started abusing them that they will began abusing them within the next ninety day to years. The cost of Domestic violence exceeds $5.8 billion each year, $4.1 billion of which is for direct medical and mental health services. (www.clarkprosecutor.org). Even though Domestic abuse is a leading cause of death for women The average prison sentence of men who kill their women partners is 2 to 6 years(National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 1989).Women will earn more time if they kill their male partner earning up to 15 Year to life in prison. Almost one of every three person knows somebody who is either being Abused or has been abused with the Abuser being either a Boyfriend or the Husband of the Victim. A study was taken from 1993-2004 where it should those residents of urban areas experienced highest level
