Unit 5 DB

I used to work at a Dr. Edith McCreadie's office. This is a general practice doctor, who sees patients from all ages. At the office the usual patient needed to be seen either for a refill on their usual medicine or because they were sick. The patients expected a high quality care and a friendly office staff when they came to the office for their medical needs.

At the office we used a software program called Lytec. This system was used to help us at the office to provide the highest patient care that we could. Also this software was used to get reimbursement for that care that the patients received at the office. We used this software to schedule appointments, bill insurance, and other things to help us keep this office running smoothly.

This software was the first one that this office had ever used since we opened. I personally think that the software was not a good one. We had many problems for this software. The first problem was that we had to create chart numbers when we started using the program. At first this was ok being it was a new office, but after awhile it did not work for us. When a patient came to the office we would give them a chart number such as one or two then we would enter them into the system. However, many patients only seen the doctor once and never came back but they still had a number in the system. After years of this patient being in the system without being seen the doctor wanted to delete the record but the system would not allow her to do so. Therefore we had multiple patients with numbers in the system that was inactive. After a period of time we ran out of numbers for the patients. The doctor then had to look for a new software program for us to use. We all had to be trained on this new software since at the time Lytec did not have a newer or upgraded version of this program.
