Drexler's World Famous Bar-B-Que is located in Houston's Third Ward. It is a family owned business using secret family recipes dating back to the 1940's. Mrs. Scott, head of the family, influences the culture of the organization. She is dedicated to the community and does not consider moving from its original location. She manages her business with her values throughout the organization. In 1994, the business was closed for six months to raze the building, and rebuild a new and modern restaurant. This was good decision as business doubled. Mrs. Scott has two sons who are active in the business. James is a co-owner and Clyde played college and professional basketball in Houston.

What role do values play in how Drexler's Bar-B-Que interacts with its neighbors and customers?

Values play a tremendous role with its neighbors and customers. Mrs. Scott is constantly inquiring about individual needs not only with valued customers but also with new customers. She provides excellent customer service and is very responsive to the needs of the customer. They provide a great product at a good price with excellent service. The business could have moved from the Third Ward but decided to stay. Mrs. Scott values of hard work, honesty, and caring for the community has contributed to their success. This has made an impact on the economy of this struggling neighborhood. Drexler's gives back to the community. They have sponsored a softball team, Boy Scout troop, and giving youths an opportunity to go camping and visit an amusement park.
